Just how clean is the voter list in Pierce County?
February 5th, 2008 by Republican By DefaultAn article in the News Tribune seems to indicate that Pierce County Auditor Pat McCarthy is doing the work and protecting the people of Pierce County from vote fraud. But it turns out there’s more to the story.
The Evergreen Freedom Foundation, a conservative think-tank and government watchdog, gives a brief summary of what happened behind the scenes.
“Kudos should go to the Building Industry Association of Washington, who kept after McCarthy to review the 1,400 registrations cards filed in Pierce County at the same time by ACORN. BIAW Executive Vice-President Tom McCabe noticed that many of the registrations were from the same address, the Tacoma Rescue Mission. McCabe checked with Mission staff, and when they didn’t recognize the names he tipped off McCarthy and the county prosecutor about the discrepancy.”
There seems to be some reluctance on the part of our auditor to move on the issue, even though the problem has been in the public eye for some time.
“While the ACORN workers were prosecuted in King County, the TNT says nothing about Pierce County pursuing similar charges. It should.”
The TNT article seems to indicate that it was the auditor’s “office’s vetting process worked. With the purging of seemingly fraudulent registrations, ‘we’ll be able to put this issue to bed,’” Well, all right, Pat McCarthy is a politician and they’re always taking credit for things they didn’t do. It’s not just fun to point these things out, it’s also important to get the record corrected so that we know about those things when the politician is up for reelection.
I have a call in to the auditor’s office to find out if the submissions by ACORN in prior election cycles will be examined. I recall bumping into ACORN workers on the waterfront several years ago, long before the 2006 election.
There’s also the question of whether ACORN will be allowed to continue to gather registrations in Pierce County. They did a good job of scapegoating their employees who took the fall. But Seattle and Tacoma aren’t the only places that their employees have been prosecuted.
An article in the Wall Street Journal (Nov. 3, 2006, before the issue with ACORN in Tacoma and Seattle emerged) gives a fuller picture of how the organization functions. It should also be noted that extreme leftist, billionaire George Soros, noted America hater from Hungary, was also behind the founding and funding of ACORN.

So a few people are hired, create false registrations for a buck, clearly wrong, but not for the purpose of voter fraud.
George Soros,is a proponent of “Open Society”, and hardly is a found of ACORN … it started in the inner city. His appeal stretches across political lines.
The BIAW hardly deserves any credit in the investigation … they’re just another private-interest group looking to get credit where ever they are able … same goes for the EFF.
