If wind power is cost-effective then I think it's a great idea. If it costs more than traditional sources, then I say wait until it becomes cost effective. We don't want to end up like Germany and spend boatloads of money to support a pie-in-the-sky approach that will only serve to create an industry at taxpayer expense that will then sell to other nations at cut rates to keep their companies alive.

I think it's great that they're pumping their money into building an industry that will eventually benefit us, but I don't want to do the same. We've already pumped a lot of money into rebuilding their country. It's about time they return some of it. So when I buy some cheap solar panels in a few years, I'll think of it as repayment of the war debt from over half of a century ago. In the meantime, German citizens are being bilked to support a green-dream that, if left to itself, would probably have produced the same results a few years later at a much lower cost to the average person.

Liberals need lessons in economics.
