Is there hope for her destiny?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Miley Cyrus, singer and actress known for her role as ‘Hannah Montana’ in the Disney conglomerate, is the most recent victim of the exploitation from the entertainment industry.

The vultures at Vanity Fair sent their sleazy photographer Annie Leibovitz to shoot Miss Cyrus for an upcoming issue. As per usual, Leibovitz tried to get the sleaziest shots she possibly could. The magazine released the photos in their never-ending quest to sell magazines and magazine ads.

Is this the beginning of the end for yet another young pop star? Is she on the same road as Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears?

It turns out that ‘Miley’ is a nickname given to her by her father, country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus. She was born ‘Destiny Hope Cyrus’, a name chosen by her father because of a ‘vision’ he had of his daughter when she was born. He said of the name that “it’s her destiny to bring hope to many…”

Is it now her destiny to bring hope to paparazzi and tabloid magazines?

New Domestic Violence Web site

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Not the usual DV Web site. This one seems to be focused on Washington state and the issues of domestic violence against men and father’s rights. I think it might be a spinoff of Thurston Pundits, but I can’t be sure (if I’m wrong about that and they let me know, I’ll correct this post).

Washington DV Press

I’m glad that sites like this are around. I wish them well in what they’re trying to accomplish. The ‘pendullum’ of domestic violence has swung too far in the direction of a radical feminist agenda and needs to swing back again.

Abuse and domestic violence

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I’ve been trying to find the right time to approach this issue on 5views.com. With the changes that I’ve mentioned are coming, I think it’s best if I take the time to spell out where I stand on the issue. Generally speaking, as a white, male, conservative Christian minister I am considered an enemy by the more extreme elements of the Domestic Violence (DV) industry. People like me are usually misrepresented to a point that comparisons to Hitler are not uncommon. So it’s important that I speak for myself rather than let others define what I believe about the subject.

If you’ve noticed the ad on the site and wondered, the answer is yes, I am the author. It’s a book that I wrote back in the 90’s, self-published as an e-book in 2004 and took to print in 2007 (also self-published). This post is to give some background on the subject and a little bit on why I got involved with the subject.

The main reason that I got involved in the issue is that I am a Christian minister and I feel that this is part of my calling. But like any human being on the face of the Earth, I have been exposed to abuses, either directly or indirectly. That, too, contributed to my interest in the subject. However, I will say that my approach is ‘unorthodox’ when compared to the mainstream of the Domestic Violence Industry. And that’s a good thing.
