P-BO, the Chicago Gansta Rapper

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

I’ve been bothered for a long time when I listen to Barry’s speeches.  I’d rather read a transcript or excerpt than listen to him speak.  The reason is the annoying tonal modulation and meter that he uses when he speaks.  I hadn’t been able to put my finger on just where it came from, but I knew I’d heard it somewhere before.

I’ve finally figured it out.

Running in your sleep

Monday, March 9th, 2009

I have a dog that kicks in her sleep when she’s probably dreaming that she’s running.  It’s kinda cute until it happens at 4 am.  She sleeps on the bed so I get kicked.  She barks in her sleep, too.  Also cute most of the time.

But as you can see from this video, it can also be dangerous and disconcerting for a dog.  Maybe we need to get some money from the stimulus package to research this problem and find a cure.

The Octuplet’s Mom

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

I just finished watching the Dateline interview of the Octuplet’s mom.  My opinion of this woman has grown tremendously.  My opinion of the interviewer, Ann Curry, has diminished significantly, which I didn’t think was possible considering how low it was to before the interview.

In the interview this new mom came across as a caring, confident, faithful and loving individual. The interviewer came across as a nasty, bitter, condescending, self-righteous… (I’ll let you finish that sentence).
This mother is driven by her love for her children.  She has a tremendous task ahead of her but it’s clear that she will do everything in her power to rise to the occasion.

To put this ‘debate’ in context, let me compare her to a woman who ‘chooses’ to kill her baby before it’s born.  Would Ann Curry have asked a woman who chose to take the life of her unborn baby how that is not selfish?  Would she have condescendingly implied that it was irresponsible as she did with this mother who chose life for her children.

It’s amazing to me that only the death of an unborn baby is considered ‘choice’, but when a mother chooses life for her unborn baby it’s criticized as irresponsible and selfish.

Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  (KJV)

Oprah - Not the equal-opportunity exploiter I thought she was

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Amazing. Oprah created the empty suit’s popularity but now doesn’t want her show to be political. She created the liberal obsession over Barry, but when the first woman GOP candidate for VP comes along she wants nothing to do with her. I guess her political bias trumps her support for women.

I’m not an Oprah fan. I think she’s bad for this country. She might do some good for some people but she also has done a lot of harm to a lot of people by making them feel ‘empowered’ about being a victim. As a Christian minister I’m all for people rising to their full potential, but not on the backs others who don’t deserve to be trampled.

I used to view Oprah as an equal opportunity exploiter. She will exploit anyone who makes themselves available to her. She has been behind some of the worst garbage to hit the airwaves in daytime TV.

Is there hope for her destiny?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Miley Cyrus, singer and actress known for her role as ‘Hannah Montana’ in the Disney conglomerate, is the most recent victim of the exploitation from the entertainment industry.

The vultures at Vanity Fair sent their sleazy photographer Annie Leibovitz to shoot Miss Cyrus for an upcoming issue. As per usual, Leibovitz tried to get the sleaziest shots she possibly could. The magazine released the photos in their never-ending quest to sell magazines and magazine ads.

Is this the beginning of the end for yet another young pop star? Is she on the same road as Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears?

It turns out that ‘Miley’ is a nickname given to her by her father, country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus. She was born ‘Destiny Hope Cyrus’, a name chosen by her father because of a ‘vision’ he had of his daughter when she was born. He said of the name that “it’s her destiny to bring hope to many…”

Is it now her destiny to bring hope to paparazzi and tabloid magazines?
