The embodiment of liberal commenters

Monday, February 9th, 2009

There’s a guy I run into once in a while that has come to illustrate to me the mentality of liberal commenters.  He’s made so many ridiculous statements that I can only laugh at how much he resembles the liberal commenters that have visited this site.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank this person for confirming to me that I made the right choice in limiting comments to registered users.

I have to make a few simple changes to the site to manage registration and comments.  As soon as that is done I’ll make the opportunity available to begin commenting.  Of course, that opportunity will only be available to thinking people who don’t spew liberal or Democrat talking points.  I don’t mind engaging in debate, but I’m not going to waste any more time with senseless dimbulbs.

I also want to thank the one or two people who actually engaged in intelligent discourse on this site over the last year.   You know who you are.  You’ll be welcomed if you choose to come back.  As for the rest.  I’m sorry to say that I honestly feel that talking with you was a waste of time.  You were neither honest nor were you discussing the issue with the open mind that liberals usually claim to maintain.

I’m more convinced than ever that liberals have become everything they claim to despise about conservatives, especially religious conservatives.  This will likely be the subject of many upcoming posts.

Back on the grid…

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I’ve been away, or at least a little preoccupied.  I was with my family dealing with the illness and death of my father.  I appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers of those who have expressed their concern.

I don’t know how much I want to say on this site about all that has happened.  I’m watching as many pour out well-wishes for the family of Tony Snow and recently for Tim Russert’s, but I’ve also watched as many slimy liberals have used it as an occasion to spew their usual venom.  This is something that I’ve experience before in a small way, and I really don’t want to deal with it now.  I realize that I’m small-potatoes next to those I’ve just mentioned, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

So for now I’ll just say that I’m back, and blogging will resume as soon as I’m caught up with things.

Abuse and domestic violence

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I’ve been trying to find the right time to approach this issue on 5views.com. With the changes that I’ve mentioned are coming, I think it’s best if I take the time to spell out where I stand on the issue. Generally speaking, as a white, male, conservative Christian minister I am considered an enemy by the more extreme elements of the Domestic Violence (DV) industry. People like me are usually misrepresented to a point that comparisons to Hitler are not uncommon. So it’s important that I speak for myself rather than let others define what I believe about the subject.

If you’ve noticed the ad on the site and wondered, the answer is yes, I am the author. It’s a book that I wrote back in the 90’s, self-published as an e-book in 2004 and took to print in 2007 (also self-published). This post is to give some background on the subject and a little bit on why I got involved with the subject.

The main reason that I got involved in the issue is that I am a Christian minister and I feel that this is part of my calling. But like any human being on the face of the Earth, I have been exposed to abuses, either directly or indirectly. That, too, contributed to my interest in the subject. However, I will say that my approach is ‘unorthodox’ when compared to the mainstream of the Domestic Violence Industry. And that’s a good thing.

5views.com is changing… Update for those waiting for changes

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

When I started 5views.com in January of this year I had hoped to focus on the city I live in, Tacoma, WA. So I listed with a local feed aggregator and started blogging on issues that would interest people living here. I decided to be as nice as I could, since I was stepping into their ‘domain’. Holding back on issues that mattered to me wasn’t easy, but I quickly learned that that little group wasn’t ready for anything else.

When I started I thought that I was walking into the lion’s den as a conservative in a liberally dominated local blogosphere. Well, it turns out that it wasn’t a lot of trouble, but it was annoying and largely fruitless. I was amazed at how little liberals want to actually think anything through on their own. With a few exceptions the responses were just the parroting of liberal talking points.

So now that I’ve had time to figure things out, I’m going to change the focus of the site a little. I won’t be holding back on local issues anymore. Nor will I be focusing on such a small piece of geography.

Here are some things that are on the horizon for 5views.com:

5views.com Is On The Grid

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

I guess I should start by explaining the site and my handle.

This site, 5views.com, is the result of a lack of outlets for conservative views in Tacoma, Pierce County and Western Washington. The name is from two things: 1) a small, relatively unknown area in Tacoma that barely qualifies as a neighborhood by most people’s standards; and 2) the symbolism that conservative views are universal and even exist in this little enclave on the left coast.

My handle, “Republican By Default” represents my frustrations with the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) and their inability to represent the views of real conservatives. The handle simply means this, “I am a Republican because I won’t waste my vote on third party candidates and I won’t damage this area any further by voting for a Democrat. So even though the WSRP doesn’t represent my views, I will likely vote for their candidates because the alternatives suck worse.”

Upcoming blog entries will spell all of this our further, but for now I’ll just say that conservatives are alive and well and living in Tacoma, Pierce County and Western Washington.
